Common questions
Can I use Lyra for a client?
Yes. One license covers one website, either your own organisation’s or one you build for a client. Buy one license per site.
Does Lyra take donations itself?
No. The donate form sends visitors to your donation provider’s secure checkout, with the amount already chosen. Your provider handles card details, receipts and payouts, so you never handle payment data. See Donations.
Which donation providers work?
Any provider with a hosted donation page. Givebutter and Donorbox can have the amount filled in from the link, Stripe Payment Links work with one link per amount, and most other hosted forms accept an amount in the link too.
Do I need to know how to code?
No. Everyday changes are made in site.config.ts and Markdown files, which are plain text, and new pages are built by copying blocks from the block library. Changing the design needs basic HTML and CSS.
Do I need both languages?
No. You can run Lyra in English only, Spanish only, or add more languages. See Languages.
Why are the demo photos missing?
The demo uses free-licence photos from Unsplash and a video from Pexels. Their licences don’t allow us to pass the files on, so the download includes coloured placeholders with the same names. Replace them with your own photos. See Colours, fonts and photos.
Does Lyra use cookies?
No. Lyra itself sets no cookies and loads nothing from other sites. Light or dark mode is remembered in the visitor’s browser storage, which isn’t sent anywhere. Your donation provider, form service or embedded videos may set their own cookies when used.
Fixing problems
npm run dev shows an error about a page
Lyra checks every content file. The message names the file and the field, such as sections.2.variant, which means the third block’s variant (counting starts at 0). Common causes: a misspelt setting, a variant that doesn’t exist for that block, or wrong indentation.
A photo shows “not found”
Check the file is in src/assets/images/ and that the name in the page matches exactly, including .jpg and capital letters.
Search says it isn’t ready
Search is built with the site. Run npm run build and npm run preview to try it.
Changes don’t appear
Save the file, and check the terminal running npm run dev for an error. If you changed content.config.ts or added a folder, stop the preview with Ctrl+C and start it again.
The donate button goes to the thank-you page
That’s the demo setting. Set donate.url.href in site.config.ts to your provider’s page.
