Common questions
Can I use Vega for a client?
Yes. One license covers one website, either your own or one you build for a client. Buy one license per site.
Can I remove the “Vega by Tortoiz Themes” credit?
Yes. It’s in layouts/_partials/footer.html. We appreciate it if you keep it, but you don’t have to.
Do I need to know how to code?
No. Everyday changes are made in plain text files. Changing the design needs basic HTML and CSS.
Does it include analytics?
No, because tracking scripts slow a site down. If you add one, it may lower your PageSpeed score, so choose a lightweight option.
Troubleshooting
npm install fails while downloading Hugo
npm install downloads Hugo from GitHub, so this is usually a network, VPN or firewall problem. Try again on another connection. You can also install Hugo yourself, version 0.169 or newer (extended edition). Then run npm install --ignore-scripts, and use hugo server and hugo --minify in place of the npm commands.
Text is cut off
Text with a comma inside { curly brackets } needs “double quotes”. See the Home page guide.
The build stops with an error mentioning a YAML file
Check the indentation near the line it names. YAML uses spaces, not tabs.
A new post doesn’t appear
Check its date isn’t in the future, and that it doesn’t have draft: true.
The contact form doesn’t send
Check you’ve replaced YOUR-WEB3FORMS-KEY in hugo.toml. See Contact form.
