Vega is our answer. It’s a Hugo theme for startups, SaaS products and agencies that opens with a rocket lifting off through drifting clouds, without a single animation library.

An animated hero with no animation library

In Vega, the rocket, stars and clouds are inline SVG, so they arrive with the page and need no image downloads. All the motion is plain CSS, and the headline appears straight away instead of waiting for an animation. Visitors who prefer reduced motion get a still rocket.

Easy to make your own

You don’t need to install Hugo yourself, because npm install fetches it for you. Your settings live in one file, and each page’s text is in simple YAML and Markdown files. The documentation covers every step, from your first edit to going live for free on Cloudflare Pages or Netlify.
